Who is the Red Stick Sound?
The Red Stick Sound is comprised of men from all over the Baton Rouge area. Only few are classically trained musicians, but that does not deter members from enjoying great harmony. The members come from all walks of life— musicians, mechanics, engineers, CPA's, and several guys who retired long ago, they don't remember what they did for a living!
The love of harmony, especially Barbershop Harmony, bring us together to sing at civic clubs, corporate parties, awards banquets and anywhere else people gather for an evening. The chorus is an affiliated chapter with the International Barbershop Harmony Society with over 750 chapters world wide.
The chorus welcomes men of good character with a desire to improve their music skills to participate. A brief audition will let the music committee know where you fit in and the craft sessions work to blend the voices into an expanded unit sound.

Education
Besides sharing our music with our community, another of our passions is working to master the art of a capella singing. Vocal instruction, placement, enunciation and clarity of tone are all things that we work on in every chorus rehearsal, which helps us to produce the consistent tones. On occasion, we will even have special visits from a coaching master in the art of barbershop, particularly when nearing a competition, that focuses on improving our singing, musical interpretation or presentation skills in order to perfect our performance and help our members become better musicians.
Performances
Our desire is to get out into the community and perform, to give the gift of great a cappella music through our own annual shows, plus in numerous community events. We offer Singing Telegrams for Valentines Day and special occasions and are available to sing at other events.
